Express entry is the quickest and most popular pathway for newcomers seeking a new life in Canada. Express entry organises and processes applications for people who want to immigrate to Canada and acquire a Canadian permanent residency.
Eligibility Criteria
Candidates who have an university or college degree with skilled work experience and moderate proficient in English and or French are ideal candidates. Those who qualify in the following programs are also able to submit an application under the Express Entry Program.Candidates who qualify for the following programs are also eligible to submit an application under the Express Entry program.
Federal Skilled Trades (FST)
This program is for applicants who have skilled work experience. Skilled work includes:
- Managerial jobs (skill type 0)
- Professional jobs (skill level A)
- Technical jobs and skilled trades (skill level B)
If you are unsure about which skilled work experience you have, we can assist you with that. There are two other minimum requirements that candidates must meet for this program which are; language ability and education.
Selection Criteria
- Education
- Work experience
- Age
- Whether or not you have a valid job offer (arranged employment in Canada)
- English and/ or French language skills
- Adaptability (how well you will be able to settle in Canada
These factors are measured on a 100-point base grid, this is used to assess the eligibility of the applicant. You only require 67 points to qualify for the program.
Federal Skilled Trades program is for skilled workers who would like to become Permanent Residents based on being qualified in a specific skilled trade or industry.
Requirements to be qualified:
- You must meet the required language levels for each of the language ability or skill
- Writing
- Reading
- Listening
- Speaking
- Have at least 2 years of full time for experience in the skilled trade/ industry within 5 years of applying
- Meet the requirements of the job in which the skilled trade or industry is found in the National Occupational Classification (NOC), except when you need a certificate of qualification.
- A valid job offers from a Canadian Employer for at least 1 year or you have a certificate of qualification from Canadian provincial, territorial or federal authority.
Canadian Experience Class
This program is for applicants who have Canadian work experience, or have worked in Canada before and desire to become a Permanent Resident.
Minimum Requirements t o be qualified, you must:
- Meet the required language levels for each of the language ability or skill
- Writing
- Reading
- Listening
- Speaking
- At least 1 year of full time work experience in the skilled trade or industry within 3 years off applying.
- Your work experience was from working legally in Canada
Work experience is classified as :
- Managerial jobs (skill level 0)
- Professional jobs (skill type A)
- Technical jobs (skill type B)
You should be able to prove that the duties you performed are set out in the lead statement of the description of your occupation which can be found in the National Occupational Classification (NOC). Including all the essential duties and most of the main duties listed on the said list.
Please note that experience from self-employment and work experience, while you are a student, does not count here.
Ideal Express Entry candidates would meet the following requirements:
- be under 30 years of age
- Have at least Bachelor or Master’s Degree
- Be able to demonstrate English or French language Proficiency to a moderate or high standard (Canadian Language Benchmark [CLB] level eight or higher)
- Have a minimum of three years of skilled work experience
Other factors that can really boost your CRS score can include:
- Higher language proficiency in English and/or French
- Bilingualism in French and English
- A Masters degree or Ph.D. education
- Canadian work or educational experience
- A Canadian brother or sister currently residing in Canada
- An arranged employment offer from a Canadian company
- A nomination from a provincial nominee program
